Alex Chitura

Eldorado Springs Art Center hosted Alex Chitura as a visiting artist for several months in the summer of 2024. Alex participated in a number of sculpture events over 7 successive weekends, driving his white van full of beautifully carved sculptures to art fair venues, and when back at the center, worked on several new pieces.

Born in the heart of Zimbabwe, Alex is a visionary artist who has captivated the world with his contemporary artworks. With a distinguished background in welding and sculpting, Alex's journey from an ordinary carver to a chief carver at Sondela Exports showcases his unmatched talent and dedication.

Returning to his homeland in 1990, Alex unleashed his creativity, crafting breathtaking stone and wood masterpieces. His reputation for excellence spread like wildfire, attracting global acclaim and turning his studio into a hub of exceptional talent.
