Tracey Barnes
Artist Statement
Tracey Barnes has been a painter for almost 40 years and continues to enchant her viewers through abstract emotional landscapes. Her process revolves around color and texture created by putting on layers upon layers of beeswax, as well as utilizing pigment, oils, and acrylics. Tracey loves to work in a large scale, giving you the feeling of being lost in the landscape, "like on a foggy morning in the prairie lands". Tracey recommends you go in for a close-up look to see all the details that occur because of her process, and to smell the beeswax. Her paintings take anywhere from a couple of months to a couple of years, with "If I knew Where Poems Came From Iād Go There" , taking over a year to complete. Tracey paints every day after her morning coffee; working on multiple paintings at a time and taking inspiration from long walks and poetry. Tracey says she loves painting because it helps her see the world differently and has a meditative nature to it. Her work brings all those benefits to you.
